Today in Episode #1 I’m sharing how many videos you need on your website and what types of videos they should be.
Asking how many videos you need to have on your website is a bit like asking how long is a piece of string! Every company and every audience is unique…but one constant is that the more good quality video content and the more video variety you have on your website the better. It helps build a trusted content library and shows all the different facets of what you do, how you do it and who you are, to the world.
Watch this video to see what types of videos made my list:
The obvious place to start is your homepage video.
Home page videos tend to be Why videos or Explainer videos.
Why videos are usually “live action” starring you, so that potential clients get a real sense of your passion (which is what they are really buying into) and your character.
Explainer videos work well as animation because they are branded with your colours, can be adjusted inexpensively if your content changes over time, and fun special effects are possible/affordable. They can be live action starring you, it depends on your brand and your ideal customer.
Whether you are posting a blog or a vlog, I recommend featuring a Welcome/Thank You video for your email subscribers. It should be super simple and you can speak direct to camera. This vid should be warm, not too long and if your brand permits, you can add a little fun. Authenticity is key. Think of this video as welcoming fans and potential customers into your living room.
Finally, if you sell stuff or are raising funds for a cause, a sales video for your splash pages or the services/packages section of your website is a must. Usually these are live action as customers want to “see” the person they are about to give money to. According to comScore, website visitors are 64% more likely to buy a product on an online retail site after watching a video. Shazam! I want you guys to hit those numbers!
I am so honoured you are here and I look forward to sharing more info next week.
Take good care,
Allyson
